Beep Beep Gallery is proud to present a solo show of new work by Atlanta based artist Shana Robbins. "Into This World: Shanamisms" is a multi-disciplinary and multi-sensory exhibition featuring installation, performances both musical and physical, video and sound pieces, and a series of mixed media paintings and drawings.

ABOUT THE SHOW

"Into this world" retrieves from shamanic worldviews alternative sensibilities as a counter-intelligence, anti-dote, and aesthetic. Interdependence. Balance. Community. Healing. Celebration. Mystery. In the past few years my immersions in a variety of practices, rituals, and earth-based cosmologies provided a recontextualization of human embodiment and time. Perception is conception. We too are indigenous to the planet. This exhibition posits that hybrid alterities are who we are. How we skillfully engage our elements: science, art, politics, spirit determines our horizon of meaning. Here is to the immediacy of the moment and the variable emergent forces that circulate in the name of love.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Shana Robbins is an Atlanta-based artist who works with multidisciplinary processes that cross a spectrum of performance, film, drawing/painting, video, and installation. Over the past few years she has engaged in a variety of practices, rituals, and earth-based cosmologies that provide a re-contextualization of human embodiment and time through shamanic worldviews.

Robbins has exhibited her work or performed at Atlanta Contemporary Art Center; Rowan University Art Gallery, New Jersey; Las Vegas Contemporary Arts Center; Monkeytown, Brooklyn; Mobius, Boston; Beta Pictoris, Birmingham; and at Atlanta galleries including Whitespace, Sandler Hudson, and TEW Galleries. In 2011 Robbins' work was included in the inaugural biennial publication (book) "Noplaceness: Art in a Post-Urban Landscape" (Atlanta Art Now). In 2012, she received a full fellowship for the Vermont Studio Center Artist Residency.
